Curiosity about Artificial Snow

Bormio Ski invested around 8.5 million euro in an advanced snowmaking system provided by Technoalpin due to climate change and the lack of natural snow.

The facility comprises 190 fixed and 50 mobile cannons a total of 300 snow points, with a production capacity of 1,250 cubic metres of snow per hour.

This system covers the 80% of the Bormio slopes, equivalent to 40 kilometres out of 50.

The water needed comes from owned wells and accumulation tanksproviding a total of 13,000 cubic metres of water.

The distribution network allows for efficient snowmaking on both competition and tourist slopes, guaranteeing a high level of snow during events such as World Cup races.
